Taking naps during the day. Naps can make sleeping at night very hard but if necessary, then the nap should not last more than 30 minutes and should be taken before 3 p.m.
Avoid large meals and beverages before going to bed as well. A light snack is fine but too much food late in the evening can interfere with your sleep. It is also good to drink less so that you do not go to the bathroom many times during the night.
Alcohol or drinks with caffeine or nicotine are also known to affect sleep. While it may make one feel sleepy at first, alcohol can cause an unrestful sleep and awaking frequently. Drinking tea or coffee just before bedtime can cause lack of sleep and should also be limited.
Bedroom clocks should be avoided as well because if you are not aware of the time you will be in a better position to sleep. All clocks should be kept far away but the alarm may be set so as to help you know what time to wake up.
